Himachal Pradesh Reels from Devastating Monsoon: Roads Closed, Water Systems Crippled
The beautiful state of Himachal Pradesh is grappling with the devastating aftermath of relentless monsoon rains. The deluge has wreaked havoc, leaving a trail of destruction and impacting the lives of countless residents.
Tragic Loss of Life and Widespread Disruption
Tragically, the monsoon fury has claimed the lives of 92 people. Of these, 56 perished in rain-related incidents such as landslides and flash floods, while another 36 lost their lives in road accidents attributed to the treacherous conditions. A further 172 individuals have been injured, and the agonizing search continues for 33 people still missing.
Critical Infrastructure Severely Impacted
The relentless rains have severely impacted vital infrastructure. A staggering 249 roads remain closed, isolating communities and hindering relief efforts. The water supply has also been severely disrupted, with over 750 water schemes affected, leaving many without access to clean drinking water. This dire situation necessitates urgent action to restore essential services and provide aid to those in need.
