Ex-Haryana MLA Ordered Back to Jail After Bail Plea Rejected

A former Haryana MLA has been ordered by the Supreme Court to return to jail after his plea for extended bail in a money laundering case was rejected. The MLA had argued that the high court’s strict limits on his bail duration contradicted its own observations concerning the severity of his medical condition and the questionable legality of his arrest.

High Court’s Conflicting Stance on MLA’s Health and Arrest Legality

The former MLA’s legal team emphasized the seeming contradiction in the high court’s stance. They argued that while the high court acknowledged the MLA’s health concerns and raised questions about the legality of his arrest, it still imposed a restrictive timeframe on his bail, effectively negating the consideration given to these factors.

Supreme Court Upholds Return to Jail

Despite the arguments presented, the Supreme Court upheld the high court’s decision, requiring the former MLA to surrender and return to jail. The development marks a setback for the MLA’s legal battle as he continues to fight the money laundering charges against him.
